Hi! My name is Amina Lake Abdelrahman, but you probably figured that out already. I recently graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in communication studies and journalism, and I'm currently working as an editorial assistant at the Good Housekeeping Institute. (View my author page here.)
Montclair State's School of Communication and Media has given me endless opportunities to grow as a writer and a person. From getting involved in our student-run newspaper, The Montclarion, to mentoring 18 high school students at a workshop about journalism and media, I am forever grateful for all of my experiences there.
But let's start from the beginning.
I've always had a passion for reading, writing and magazines. Think: 11-year-old me hoarding every copy of Teen and J-14 I could get my hands on. Bonus points if they came with pull-out posters of The Jonas Brothers.
I wish I could say I always knew creating content was my ~thing~, but between you and me, I didn't realize it until my sophomore year of college. My interest in writing doesn't stop at magazines, though. Social media, public relations and digital media all have my heart too.
Thanks to my eager attitude, passion for storytelling and a few great professors, I'm on my way to becoming the professional I've always dreamed of being.
When I'm not writing, you can probably find me taking fitness and yoga classes, trying out new restaurants or reading about current events.
